West Kirby 1st
(1878 - 1896)
The station was opened on April 1 1878 as the new terminus for trains from Birkenhead Dock
There was a single platform with a single-storey wooden building housing the booking office and waiting room. There were two goods sidings and a weighing machine
By August 1887, there were seventeen departures and arrivals on weekdays plus extra services on Saturdays
After extensions to New Brighton, Seacombe and Birkenhead Park, the station became busier and in 1895 there were thity-eight departures and arrivals
A new station was opened in 1896 close to the original station which became a goods facility which eventually closed on October 30 1965
