Urmston
(1873 - )

The station was opened when the Cornbrook East Junction to Glazebrook was completed on September 2 1873

The footbridge in the background was rebuilt when the road above was widened in 1927

There was a small goods yard outside the station but it was closed in October 1966

The arrival of the railway caused the local population to double by 1900

A new building on the Manchester-bound platform houses the ticket office and a waiting room. The main station building on the Liverpool-bound platform was disused for many years in the 1990s, but it was re-opened as a pub/restaurant in June 2008
