Orrell
(1848 - )
Orrell station is a small two-platform commuter hub on the Wigan to Kirkby branch line which opened in November 1848
The station is unstaffed, with no ticket facilities so passengers must buy on the train or in advance. Shelters, digital information screens and timetable information boards are
located on each platform, with a footbridge linking them. There is no step-free access as the station is situated in a cutting below street level and can only be reached via the stairs from
the footbridge
There is an hourly service Monday to Saturday daytimes eastbound to Wigan Wallgate and westbound to Kirkby for connection to Liverpool Central. There is no late evening service
and there is no service on a Sunday
