Grosmont formerly Tunnel
(1835 - 1965 1973)
In 1835, a railway was brought to Grosmont by the Whitby and Pickering Railway which was a horse-worked line and opened from Whitby as far as Grosmont then known as 'Tunnel'
The station was re-named as Grosmont in 1847
In 1865, a deviation line on the route to Pickering opened, to avoid the cable-worked incline at Beckhole making Grosmont into a junction
The station was closed in March 1965 and opened as a heritage station on the reopened line to Pickering on April 22 1973
