Ruthernbridge
(1834 - 1933)


The extension to Ruthernbridge from the Bodmin to Wadebridge line, was opened on September 30 1834, and served mines in the locality producing copper, iron and lead, and especially tin and provision for this traffic was made by two sidings

There was never any passenger service, Ruthernbridge was little more than a small collection of cottages and farms, although passengers were conveyed unofficially in the tool wagon

The line, which climbed steadily at 1 in 158 for most of its length, closed on November 29 1933 with the track being lifted the following year
