Mount Hawke Halt
(1905 - 1963)

Mount Hawke Halt was opened on August 14 1905, shortly after the completion of the line from Perranporth to Newquay and it closed in February 1963

When the first section of the Truro and Newquay Railway was opened in 1903, it passed east of the village. In 1905, 6 extra stations were provided along the line as halts and Mount Hawke Halt railway station was the first

It had a short platform and a pagoda shed and tickets were sold by the guard on the train

The Halt was nearly a mile from the village on the road to Chiverton Cross and was the first Cornish railway station to close under the Beeching axe
