Storeton formerly Storeton for Barnston formerly Barnston
(1896 - 1951)
Storeton station opened on May 18 1896 with the Bidston to Wrexham line and waa called Barnston
On May 1 1900 Barnston station was renamed Storeton for Barnston and in 1923 the suffix for Barnston was dropped but the name stayed in use until the closure of the station
The line was double-track so the station was provided with two platforms. The booking facilities were in a brick over-track building at street level with steps led down to the platforms on each side
of the building. Both platforms had single-storey brick buildings providing waiting facilities and toilets
The goods yard was sited on the down side of the line and comprised two sidings running parallel with the line. One of the sidings was very short and served a cattle dock with a cattle pen
Being isolated, and at some distance from nearby villages, Storeton suffered from the effects of road competition. British Railways closed the station to passengers on December 3 1951 but
it remained open for goods until February 3 1964
