Fiddlers Ferry and Penketh formerly Fiddlers Ferry
(1853 - 1950)

Fiddler's Ferry station was located on the west side of Station Road adjacent to the Sankey Canal which was built in 1757 and at a point from where a ferry used to cross the River Mersey. In April 1881 the station was renamed as 'Fiddler's Ferry & Penketh'

Fiddlers Ferry Station closed to passengers on January 2 1950 but a nearby coal yard operated into the 1960s. After 1950 the line was still used for passenger services by the Ditton Junction to Manchester Oxford Road via Warrington Bank Quay Low Level train which continued until September 1 1962
