Moorside formerly Moorside & Wardley
(1888 - )


Moorside is a local station on the line between Wigan and Manchester opening in 1888 as Moorside & Wardley. On May 6 1974, it was renamed as Moorside

It has a single island platform serving the two lines that pass through but the staion buildings were destroyed by a deliberate fire in February 2020

The station has a ticket office at street level, which is staffed part-time (7am to 1pm, weekdays only). Outside these times, tickets must be purchased on the train or prior to travel. Timetable posters offer train running information. Unlike most stations, there are no digital display screens

Monday to Saturday daytimes, there is generally an hourly service southbound towards Manchester Victoria and northbound towards Southport
