Warbreck
(1929 - 1960)
Warbreck station opened on August 1 1929 in the Walton Vale area of Liverpool
Day trips to seaside resorts such as Southport had become very popular and Walton Vale and its environs had grown into a densely populated suburb of north Liverpool. It was to attract some of this potential custom that the CLC opened Warbreck station
The booking office was a small brick building located at street level on the east side of the line. A ramp led down from the building to the up (Hunts Cross-bound) platform on which stood a brick waiting shelter. Access to the down (Southport-bound) platform was via a ramp from Walton Vale on the west side of the line. The down platform was also provided with a waiting shelter
The summer timetable for 1932 showed Warbreck as having 10 trains in each direction on Monday to Saturday. All of the down trains operated to Southport Lord Street and excursion trains also ran from Warbreck in the 1930s
By the summer of 1957 its service had been reduced to only 3 up and down trains Monday to Saturday
The last regular train to serve Warbreck ran on November 5 1960 and the station was demolished shortly afterwards leaving no trace
