Ravenscar formerly Peak
(1885 - 1895 1896 - 1965)
The station was initially called Peak when it opened on July 16 1885 but was renamed Ravenscar on October 1 1897
When opened there was only a single track with the platform on the Up side and a goods siding on the Down side but a 2nd timber platform with a waiting shelter was added in 1908
The NER demanded a station house should be built and when the Scarborough & Whitby Company failed to do this the NER closed the station on March 6 1895 but the company relented
and built a house with the station reopening on April 1 1896
The single freight siding was on the Up side at the north end of the station with 2 additional short sidings 1 on the Down side at the north end and the other on the Down side at the south end.
The freight service was withdrawn from Ravenscar on May 4 1964, 3 months before the goods service on the line was withdrawn
The station closed on March 8 1965 and the Up platform survives but all buildings have been demolished and the base for the waiting shelter on the Down platform also survives
