Wellington
(1849 - )


The station was opened on June 1 1849 with trains to Stafford and later to Birmingham in 1854

It subsequently became a busy junction interchange station, serving lines north to Market Drayton when the Wellington and Drayton Railway opened in 1867 and south when the Wellington and Severn Junction Railway opened in 1857

The line to Much Wenlock closed 1n 1962

Wellington is currently served by two trains an hour each way between Birmingham New Street and Shrewsbury and various other trains to London, Aberystwyth, Llandudno and Manchester
