Ledsham (1840 - 1959)
The station opened on September 23 1840 as 1 of the original Chester to Birkenhead line stations
The line was single track so only one platform was constructed until 1847 when the line was doubled needing another platform. Between 1900 and 1905, the line was quadrupled requiring a rebuild of the station
The station was in a fairly remote location and passenger numbers declined so that the station was closed to passengers on July 20 1959. The roadside station building was demolished but some of the platforms stayed in situ until the 1990s when the A550 road needed straightening
