Weaste formerly Gortons Buildings, Waste Lane,Weaste Lane Gate and Weaste Lane
(1832 - 1942)


Weaste was an intermediate station on the L&M railway opening in 1832 and closing on October 19 1942

The station had a number of names, including Gortons Buildings, Waste Lane, Weaste Lane Gate and Weaste Lane, until it finally became known as Weaste in July 1856

The station was an early closure losing its passenger services on October 19 1942 but it remained in use for goods services until November 1947

In the 1980's, the M602 Motorway was constructed adjacent to the Liverpool and Manchester Railway at this point and today nothing remains of the station site
