Mostyn
(1848 - 1966)

Mostyn Station opened on May 1 1848 as part of the Chester and Holyhead Railway

Mostyn Station was provided with a large brick-built building on its westbound platform which was similar in style to the other stations that opened with the line. Originally two tracks passed through the station and platforms were provided for each. The line become so busy that it was quadrupled through the site with slow and fast tracks

Nearby docks were served by numerous sidings and a large brick-built goods shed was provided at the southeast end of the westbound slow line platform. The goods service was withdrawn on May 4 1964 although private sidings remained in use

Mostyn Station closed on February 14 1966 but the original 1848 station building is still extant and in use as a private residence and the goods shed can also still be seen
