Caldy
(1909 - 1954)

The station was opened on May 1 1909 to cater for the expanding housing development in the area

The station was built on an embankment with a single platform alongside the single track line. There was a wooden building incorporating a waiting room, booking office and toilets. There were no goods facilities

The major users were school children travelling to and from secondary schools in West Kirby

In 1927, there was a reduction in passenger numbers when Neston Colliery closed

In 1950, there were 9 trains stopping in each direction but there was too much competition from road users and Caldy station lost its passenger service on February 1 1954. Passenger services passed through the station until September 17 1956 when the line was closed and the tracks were lifted in early 1964

The retaining wall shows the height of the station embankment, pictured in 2005
