Hadlow Road
(1866 - 1956)

The station which served the village of Willaston opened on October 1 1866 on the Hooton to Parkgate branch line

It had a brick building containing the station master's house, a booking office, waiting room and lamp room on the down platform to Hooton and by 1909 a brick building had been constructed on the other platform

The line was single track but a passing loop was provided at the station. Goods facilities were provided with 2 sidings

In the 1930s, as many as 20 trains called at the station in each direction every weekday but this number had dropped to 9 in each direction by 1948

Faced with mounting losses, British Rail withdrew passenger services on September 15 1956 but the goods services continued until May 7 1962

The station building on the eastbound platform was restored to the 1950s style and is maintained and promoted by the Friends of Hadlow Road Station
