Halewood
(1873 - 1951 - 1988 - )
The Cheshire Lines Committee (CLC) opened the new Skelton Junction to Cressington Junction Line in 1873
The one station was situated in Baileys Lane near the junction of Leathers Lane, which was opened for passengers in May 1873
Halewood was until the 1960's a small village. The triangular junction to the east of the station was the most significant thing to happen in the village until the second half of the 19th Century. The station was therefore an early closure closing on September 17 1951
From the 1960's extensive housing development took place in Halewood and the need for a station was discussed. A replacement was not provided until the 1980's, by that time the North Liverpool Extension Line had been closed and demolished. The new station was built on the site of Halewood East Junction about 1200 yards to the west of the original site and opened in May 1988
